songbir_giant_image2yascurrentt.jpg

**** Herald **** Scotsman

Giant make their Fringe debut with The Songbird from 19th August surrounded by 70 acres of stunning landscapes at the Royal Botanic Garden.

The Songbird tells the tale of an extraordinary exotic songbird,
captured in the solitude of the forest by a ruthless logger who is captivated by her song.

Using live music, a language of specially developed 'sound poetry' and Giant's interactive sensory performance techniques, The Songbird is a subtle story with a powerful emotional punch for everyone aged 8 and over.

The connection between the performance and the Royal Botanic Garden offers a complete audience experience. Why not make a day of it by seeing the show then exploring the Royal Botanic Garden.

Catherine Wheels at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe white_image_with_title_hi-res.jpg

Catherine Wheels is part of this year's Traverse Fringe Festival with their new show White. White is a playful and highly visual new show for very young children and is a perfect first time theatre experience.

The show, which has been specifically created for 2 - 4 year olds, is on at Traverse @ Scottish Book Trust from 5th August.

A path leads the way. We follow.
And then a curtain opens. Opens to reveal a world. Hidden.
Secret.
A strange white world.
There is birdsong.
A small white city of birdhouses
And then it begins.
Our friends are working. Looking after the birds
Making sure their eggs are safe
They need looked after.
We watch. We help.
Their world is bright. Ordered. White.
But high up in the trees all is not white.
Colour keeps appearing.
First red... then blue... then yellow...

TAG presents The Monster In The Hall

A new play by David Greig, at the Citizens and touring in Autumn 2010.

Duck Macatarsney cares for her biker dad whose MS is getting increasingly bad. Her Dad - Duke - is a spliff smoking (for medicinal reasons you understand), bike riding, heavy metal loving, horror movie loving, pizza eating widower who’s brought up Duck since the death of her Mother in a crash.

The two of them are just about surviving when one morning_monsterinthehall_150_by_112.jpg the Duke wakes up blind and the Duck hears that the Social Services are coming to take her away.

The Monster in the Hall follows Duck as she tries to protect her world from the terrifying prospect of change. A low budget indie comedy musical about a girl on the verge of a nervous breakdown played out by four actors and a big fat motorbike which goes vrrooommm.

Hot off the press!
